The past week, I have been housesitting for a friend (I think it's about time that I can call her a friend..). She was my English teacher during my senior year of high school. Since graduation, I have babysat and housesat on multiple occasions. So, I'm going to go ahead and call her my friend because my "twelfth grade english teacher" is a much longer title.
Anyways, I have been housesitting. You know what that means right…. ? A WORKING OVEN!!! Did I ever mention our broken oven? I'll have to look. If I haven't, long story short, our oven in the apartment is broken and we haven't had a chance to call it in yet. It's only been like.. two months now.
So, housesitting = working oven = baking. Lots of baking.
I have been trying to use up the zucchini that I've picked from her garden, because it's starting to get a little mushy. So, I've made 4 batches of zucchini bread, 1 batch of banana bread, and a yellow cake with homemade dark chocolate frosting.
It's pretty terrible. And by terrible, I mean awesome.
Also, I've had time to work on my wood burning. So, I've burned 5 spoons, an owl, and I've started on my bird house. It's been a wonderful break from work and stress related to work.
Too bad today is the last day I have off before they come home. I won't be able to enjoy the oven much after today.
In other news, my heart is still hurting for little Pete and his family. All of my prayers are focused on his healing and strength for his family.
