So, I just saw that the visitor count on my other blog, The World is Your Oyster has surpassed 11,000. This is kinda awesome, because I haven't posted in months, and have officially switched over to just this blog.
Something you don't quite realize when you start blogging is how many people actually might read what you have to say. Even if it is random or something you just feel like you have to spout out.
In other news, I promised to discuss more about the visit I had from my Arizonan friend Haley.
She and I met wayyyyyy back when I lived in Chandler, which was about 14 years ago. We moved down there when I was 7. Haley and I met back in second grade (I think?). We became really good friends, and then she moved to a different school. We didn't see each other very often, but every once in awhile our soccer teams would cross paths and we'd play a game against each other. Her team pretty much kicked my team's butts.
Then, I moved to Minnesota and we fell out of contact until Facebook became relevant. Then, we found each other, started chatting again, two years ago we Skyped for the first time and talked for HOURS. It was like nothing had changed… except everything had changed. We had grown up, graduated high school, and begun college.
Last summer, she and her dad came out to the Midwest doing some kind of baseball tour and they took me to a Twins game in the new stadium. Seeing her in person, it was amazing. Reconnecting with her was incredible.
This summer, she was doing research/ an internship in Iowa and we had talked about getting together since the beginning of summer. Finally, about two weeks ago now, we did! She rented a car and drove up to the cities and we spent Friday night, Saturday and Sunday morning together.
I'm just going to go ahead and say, even though the majority of our friendship has been long distance and sporadic conversations, having her here was amazing. She is honestly one of my closest and dearest friends. I'm so incredibly lucky to have her in my life.
Even more exciting, two of my best friends from high school were also around that weekend and Saturday night we all hung out, went to the Rosemount Leprechaun Days and watched fireworks, and then we went out for pie at Perkins. I was surrounded by my favorite people, and it was the happiest I have felt in a year.
I'm truly one lucky girl.
