Lately, I've been struggling with cleanliness. Or, rather the lack of cleanliness in the apartment. I don't blame any specific person or group. We all tend to let it get messy. The main focus of my frustration remains the dishes. This is for 2 reasons: 1. We have a dishwasher. 2. We have a tiny kitchen.
Reason 1 deserves some explanation.
We have a freaking dishwasher. I can never understand how dishes end up stacked on every surface of the kitchen when the dishwasher exists. HOW?!! Again, I'm a criminal in this case too. I do it. The dishwasher is empty, but the counter is RIGHT THERE.
Today, I just about threw a fork at the wall though. I had noticed the dishes piling up in both sides of the sink (my biggest pet peeve), and the counters, and the stove, and then our kitchen table. I opened the dishwasher, thinking it must have just been full and we needed to empty it. We're all busy, dishes take time. I get it.
Looked at the little tag on the dishwasher.. said dirty. I thought, hmm.. maybe it just never got flipped.
Nope.
Dishwasher had room for 75% of the dishes cluttering our kitchen.
Again, like 30% of the dishes were mine. So, I was pissed at myself more than anything. Why hadn't I checked the dishwasher before putting my cups on the counter? Because I'm a lazy hypocritical twit.
