Eleanor and Park, Summer Read #2

I lied.

I said my next book review/ brain explosion would be about Stardust, but I'm struggling to get into it... (maybe it's less of a lie since I just told you that?)

Eleanor and Park was hilarious. My favorite part of the book were ALL of the comic book references AND the references to tons of great music. I was reading and thinking "I could be friends with these people."

It took me awhile to get into it. I don't know if it was because the beginning is slow or if it's more because I'm literally nose deep in three different books and mid-writing adventure. Personally, I blame it on the distractions.

There's less to spoil in this book, so that's a plus for anyone who is reading this and wants to read it. It's pretty much what you expect a young adult romance novel to be about: boy meets girl, girl is weird, girl has trouble at home, boy likes girl, climax of trouble, ending.

Except, all the in between stuff was excellent.

My favorite FAVORITE part of the book, besides the other favorite things I've already said (references to comic books and music) was when Park proves everyone wrong and drives the stick. I literally almost shouted "You go dude!!" when I read it.

I think, while there's not much for me to say about the book to give context or obsess over like with TFIOS, I can honestly say that I blurted out laughing throughout almost the whole novel. Maybe it's just me, but the sarcastic humor in books has been extremely catchy lately. I am loving it.
